Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My Teaser::
1) Grace told me it was stupid of me to paint the same thing twice. She said his eyes are too close together in both of them, anyway.
2) Both were of a man kissing a woman’s neck, poses identical but colors radically different.
Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT with either the link to your own Teaser Tuesdays post, or share your 2 ‘teasers’ in a comment here (if you don’t have a blog). Thanks!

Description:
For years, Grace has w

One yellow-eyed wolf--her wolf--is a chilling presence she can't seem to live without.
Meanwhile, Sam has lived two lives: In winter, the frozen woods, the protection of the pack, and the silent company of a fearless girl.
In summer, a few precious months of being human . . . until the cold makes him shift back again.
Now, Grace meets a yellow-eyed boy whose familiarity takes her breath away.
It's her wolf.
It has to be.
But as winter nears, Sam must fight to stay hum
an--or risk losing himself, and Grace, forever.

My Review:

Plot in under 10:
Girl gets attacked by werewolves then falls for one.
*smiles* I just…I just…LOVED this book. Five stars for sure! I loved Sam and Grace. Most of the time I don’t like one of the main characters for some reason or another, but I was in love with them both from the start.

The characters wooed me, but the story captivated me. Great plot development and killer suspense throughout. Shiver is a completely new take on werewolves that was fresh and riviting.

I feel like there is so much I could say about the awesomeness that is Shiver, but my mind is a big mush of happy incoherent thoughts. Seriously if you haven’t read this one, it’s a must.

Sin is coming... Prepare to Swoon. Torn from her native New York City and dumped in the land of cookie-cutter preps, Candice is resigned to accept her posh, dull fate. Nothing ever happens in Swoon, Connecticut...until Dice's perfect, privileged cousin Penelope nearly dies in a fall from an old tree, and her spirit intertwines with that of a ghost. His name? Sinclair Youngblood Powers. His mission? Revenge. And while Pen is oblivious to the possession, Dice is all too aware of Sin. She's intensely drawn to him—but not at all crazy about the havoc he's wreaking. Determined to exorcise the demon, Dice accidentally sets Sin loose, gives him flesh, makes him formidable. Now she must destroy an even more potent—and irresistible—adversary, before the whole town succumbs to Sin's will. Only trouble is, she's in love with him. What do you do when the boy of your dreams is too bad to be true?

My Review:

Plot in under 10:
Psychic falls for a ghost who’s an ass.

I was not impressed. I’m a girl who always likes to finish a book she’s started, so even after the plot got frustrating I pushed through thinking maybe it will redeem itself. I thought that it was going to, started to hope…and then in the last couple pages it crashed and burned. This might be someone else's cup of tea but it certainly isn't mine.

A Quick Review of 2 books

Reading: Lover Enshrined / An Insider's Guide
Author: J.R. Ward
Series: Black Dagger Brotherhood

Alright so I just finished Lover Enshrined, the 6th book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I finished books 4 and 5 since my last post, and am currently about halfway through the Insider’s Guide. I have book 7 but seeing as how the guide was released first I thought I’d go in order.

Lover Enshrined definitely wasn’t my favorite of the series. Phury kind of pisses me off with his martyrdom so I found it hard to connect with the story. But I discovered I really like Qhuinn, his dialogue with Blay is hilarious and I really like his character.

I’m liking the Insiders guide so far. There’s a short story called “Father Mine” to start it off. It’s about Z coming to terms with being a dad and all that entails. I loved that little story, very cute. Ward interviews each of the characters and gives deleted scenes and all sorts of goodies.

*note*
After reading the rest of the guide I give it two thumbs up. I've read a few "guides" and this one is on the top of my list.
